Today is “Random Acts of Kindness Day”. A lovely reminder to do something thoughtful for someone else. But as we can all agree, kindness shouldn’t really be a once-a-year thing, it’s the small, everyday moments that make the biggest difference.
At Franklin & Hawkins Family Funeral Directors, supporting families across Coventry, Solihull, Birmingham and the surrounding areas, kindness isn’t something reserved for special occasions, it’s at the heart of everything we do.

A Special Afternoon with Orchard Blythe Care Home
One of our favourite recent moments of kindness in the local community was in November, when we had the pleasure of providing limousine transport for residents of Orchard Blythe Care Home in Coleshill, supporting a special afternoon tea trip for members of our Birmingham community.
For many of the residents, it wasn’t just about getting from A to B, it was about the experience with Jason as their personal chauffer for the afternoon. Seeing their excitement as they stepped into the limousine, sharing laughs along the journey, and watching them enjoy a special afternoon out was genuinely heart-warming.
Sometimes it’s the simplest things, a trip out, a change of scenery, a feeling of being treated, that create the biggest smiles. We felt privileged to play a small part in that day.
Supporting Our Community Beyond Funeral Care
Kindness also means showing up for the wider community whenever we can.
Over the years, we’ve been proud to:
- Support the RSPCA Coventry and District through collections and becoming a donation hub when access to their centre was affected by road diversions.
- Collect for Canley Food Bank in Coventry, helping local families who need a little extra support.
- We also became a donation hub and took part in collections and deliveries for Ukraine, contributing to humanitarian aid during an incredibly difficult time

And last year Theresa completed the London Marathon, raising £4000 for a Marie Curie, a charity that provides vital end-of-life care and support for families from their hospice in Solihull and in the homes of those that need it most.
Each of these moments matters because they reflect what funeral care is really about: looking after people, not just at the time of loss, but within the community as a whole.
